Trophies

Trophies by Heather Thomas

First line: “Marion Zane hadn’t realized how long it had been since she was in a department store, or any shop for that matter, until she entered Barney’s New York in Beverly Hills.”

If you’ve ever wanted to know what goes on in the married-to-money circle, step inside this candy dish of a novel. Thomas’ biting wit and way with dialogue keeps the tale of secrets, lies and endless soirees hopping from beginning to end. With so many characters, I didn’t feel like I got to care about them as much as I would’ve liked, but the intersecting stories were meshed nicely. The author’s tongue-in-cheek look at the “power” of trophy wives – IMPORTANT people hook-ups, BIG charitable contributions (not to mention how many retailers they keep in biz) – is one I shall never doubt again.
