Book Club

book_crush_heart_cLet’s face it. Choosing the right book to spend our time with can sometimes be as hard as finding the “right guy” in real life. That’s why BEbabes has done a lot of the research for you and we’re picking four top picks each month for suggested reads for the book club. To see the Top Picks, including descriptions and links, check out each month’s page. We’ll do lots of fun features each month including recipes, guest blogs, Twitter Chats and other ways for readers to connect with authors to enrich the experience. We’d LOVE to be your matchmaker. And, hey, the fun of reading is you get to date around.

If your chapter doesn’t want to read a Top Pick, that’s fine. Each chapter has its own personality, just like we women do.
Types of chapters:
ANYTHING GOES: Any member can read any book of their choosing and bring it to the book party to discuss it, including one of the Top Picks
ANY 4: Chapter members pick one of the four featured Top Picks from the month (or two months’ worth if your club doesn’t meet every month) and you take turns discussing each of the 4 books depending on who read what
ALL for 1: Your chapter decides that you will read ONE book to discuss whether that is a Top Pick selection or something else.

No matter what you decide, since some members read more than one book a month, we suggest sharing other great titles at the party, too.

Benefits of BEbabes Book Club:
1. Communication. Twice a month e-newsletter with the latest news, contests, recipes and links
2. Bling. Automatic entries for BEbabes contests, including weekly Impulse Prizes. (Contests will be featured on the contest closet page)
3. Resources. Assistance with growing your book club and keeping it strong with resources provided on the web site including call-ins to your book club from participating authors
4. Community. We lit lovers need to stick together. We are a sorority of smart, sassy lit sisters. The more members we have the more freebies and other fun activities we can bring to the table. By joining, you’ll get listed in the TwitterBEbabes Directory. Eventually we’ll add pics and more way to connect. QueenBs and members are also invited to be a guest blogger for Side Dish, essays about books, reading, girlfriends and entertaining. Got a recipe to share? We’d love that, too. If you host a blog, we’ll be adding members blogs to our blog roll.
5. Commitment. Many book clubs fall apart because a) the members didn’t read the selection or b) schedules and resources were limited. BEbabes will always be here for you with great book ideas and support materials for fun Girls Night Outs with Great Reads!

How to join our book club:

1. Add your existing book club to our network. You’ll get all the benefits listed above. You’ll be assigned a chapter number (we started with one, naturally) and tell us the name you pick and we’ll add you to our directory. You have a nice head start on membership!
2. Start a new chapter in your area. Let us know who is in charge – the queenB.

Either way, e-mail Malena at bookendbabes at me dot com to get set up and provide the following:
1. queenB name and physical address, e-mail address and Twitter name (if you have one)
2. Your club members’ e-mail addresses (for BEbabes use only!) and Twitter names for the directory
3. The name of your book club/chapter if you have one.
4. If your chapter is OPEN (accepting new members) or CLOSED (you already have the members you want or you want to invite your own members). If it’s open we will list it on the site so women in your area may contact you for info on joining your chapter.

Does size matter? We recommend a minimum of five chapter members on up to 30 so that you have enough for the party atmosphere and good discussion! If you have a big chapter, we recommend having multiple seating groups in your home for smaller discussions. 5-8 in each.

Drag or right click to save this BEbabes invitation to start or grow your chapter! Simply attach it to an e-mail and send it to your invitees.
