What's hot at B&N, Fort Worth?

June 23rd, 2008

A quick anniversary trip to the heart of Fort Worth took the book lovin’ hubby and I straight to the cool two-story Barnes & Noble to check out the latest summer offerings in person. I’m sure my fellow bookies would agree there’s nothing quite like being surrounded by thousands of books to make your head spin. So many books, so little time.  A lot of people don’t know that publishers pay for premium placement at a bookstore and corporate determines other special racks so you only know what’s being promoted in store by actually going in store. So we’ve done it for you. A few things that caught our camera’s eye…

  • STEPHANIE MEYERS’ MANIA. Everywhere I turned, there she was. Or rather, one of her books or promotion for her upcoming release. I’m a complete schmuck. I gave in and bought Twilight to see what the hub-bub is all about.
Covers that jumped off the shelf at me: Generation Dead by Daniel Waters about zombie outcasts at high school. Click here for more.
Moose, a memoir of fat camp by Stephanie Klein. I saw so many obese kids in Fort Worth it made me choke up. A national pantry raid is in order.
Recommended summer reading by B&N: Lovely Bones (expect a big push since the movie comes out later this year), Choke, Loving Frank, Middlesex, The Pillars of the Earth, The Innocent Man, to name a shelf full.
Book I was most excited to find out is in new release: Jane Porter’s Mrs. Perfect.Expect a review in 2 weeks on A/B.
