Tropical Breeze Recipe

51-gc7itSvL._SL500_AA300_PIbundle-6,TopRight,0,0_AA300_SH20_It’s nearly summertime, which means time to add more fruity drinks to our book club repertoire. I created this fun one last month, completely by accident, and was thrilled with the results because it’s lighter in calories than a lot of “juice” drinks.

Recipe is done in “parts” so you can make accordingly. For a small group, I use my Magic Bullet Blender and for larger parties, I bring out the big blender.

Tropical Breeze:
1/2 Crystal Light Fruit punch
1/4 orange juice
1/4 citris vodka (plain is fine, too)
Ice cubes
Green apple sugar rimmer
Blend and serve.

Also makes a refreshing smoothie if you wanna go non-alcoholic.

Have a fabulous weekend and thanks for reading, Babes.

Red Box Recipe: Hawaiian Mystery Package

Nothing says Hawaiian like pineapple, and this one I randomly picked out of the Red Box looks pretty easy to pull off.

redboxHawaiian Mystery Package:

Prep time: 5 min. Cooking Time: 2 hrs.

3 or 2 2-inch cubes of beef and veal
6 chunks pineapple drained
1/4 green pepper
1 small ripe tomato
salt and pepper to taste
dash ginger

For each indiv. serving, place meat, pineapple, green pepper and tomato in 14 inch square of aluminum foil. Sprinkle on salt and pepper and giner. Seal in a pouch-like fasion, then bake 2 hours in 350 degree F oven. Variation: use combo of pork, lamb, or chicken. Make packages in advance and freeze.

voga_pinot_grigioWINE WEDNESDAY PICK: Voga Italia Pinot Grigio
LOVE this bottle, versus my usual just loving the label. Can’t wait to taste this tonight along with my Italian cheese fondue. Yummo. I forgot to write down what I paid for it, but I’m pretty sure it was around $20. Check out their very vogue website, too!

L’Ananas et Fromage

Recipe: L’Ananas et Fromage by BEbabes Top Pick author Joanne Rendell

benny-and-jo-paper-220x330I’m generally very unenthusiastic when it comes to cooking and I like to channel my creative energies anywhere but the kitchen! However, I do have one recipe. It’s probably the easiest recipe that will ever appear on this site, but I promise you it’s yummy and will make great little hors d’oeuvres for a Book End Babes get together. I’ve even given it a French name so you can impress your guests! Most of all, these little morsels capture the spirit of my new novel, Crossing Washington Square, which tells the tale of two women who are as different as cheese and pineapple! (their tastes in literature are as different as cheese and pineapple too)

Ingredients: Sharp Cheddar Cheese, One Pineapple, a box of cocktail sticks

1. Cube the cheese
2. Cube the pineapple
3. Take a cocktail stick and spear a piece of pineapple. Then using the same cocktail stick, spear a piece of cheese. Place on big place and serve to eagerly awaiting guests!

Thanks, Joanne. I’ll definitely make it for my next BEbabes chapter party! – ML
