Water For Elephants Headed for Film

It’s no surprise that the smash hit book, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, which I picked as my favorite book of 2007, has the potential to be a smash hit at the box office. Okay, so not *because* it was my favorite book, but because it’s simply fabulous. It will be interesting to see how they pull off the past and present tales within the book, but the circus setting could look gorgeous on screen. I’ll keep you posted as the production develops. – ML

“Film rights to Sara Gruen’s WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, to Fox 2000, with Francis Lawrence (“I Am Legend”) directing an adaptation by Richard LaGravenese (“P.S. I Love You”). Last year it was optioned to Andrew Tennenbaum (The Bourne Ultimatum) at Flashpoint Entertainment, with Leonard Hartman (Dragonology) adapting.” – Publisher’s Marketplace

Join the circus courtesy of Gruen, who manages to capture the majesty, mystery and madness of circus life gone by big-topped with an unlikely love affair. Brilliantly executed.
